UK regeneration developer St Modwen is seeking permission to build a 10-MW solar power plant at Baglan Bay, Wales.
The firm has submitted a planning application for the project to Neath Port Talbot Council. It plans to install 40,000 ground-mounted solar panels at the site of a former petrochemical plant. The installation will be located on land adjacent to an operating 5-MW solar power facility and will represent phase two of the photovoltaic (PV) park.
The solar array will be connected to the National Grid and is expected to generate enough electricity to power about 2,000 homes.
The consultation period on the application ends on June 1.
