Brazilian power sector regulator Aneel has recently authorised two wind parks with a combined capacity of 47.9 MW to start commercial operations.
The Ventos de Santo Augusto VI wind farm received the green light for 13 of its 2.3-MW wind turbines. The plant is part of local renewable firm Casa dos Ventos' 359-MW Ventos do Araripe III Wind Complex, located in Piaui state.
The Aura Mangueira XV wind park had six of its 3-MW wind turbines okayed by Aneel, totaling 18 MW. It is owned by a subsidiary of Brazil-based Atlantic Energias Renovaveis SA and part of the 207-MW Santa Vitoria do Palmar Wind Complex, based on the extreme south of Rio Grande do Sul state.
