Brazil's Ministry of Mines and Energy officially cancelled this year's A-3 energy auction through a publication in today's official gazette.
The A-3 tender was schedulled for the second half of this year and was supposed to contract new energy projects with start of power supply on January 1, 2019. The reason behind the cancellation is the lack of demand, the local media reported previously.
The country has two energy auctions left on its schedule for 2016. The first one will be held on September 23, focusing on hydropower sources, and the second will take place on December 16. It will contract solar and wind power.
