to-the-point: Brazil clears 34 MW of wind farms to begin operation
Brazil's electricity regulator Aneel authorised on Tuesday the start of commercial operation of two wind farms with a combined capacity of 34 MW.
Named EOL Chui I and II, the plants are based in the city of Chui, Rio Grande do Sul state. Both are part of the 144-MW Chui Wind Complex, a project consisting of six farms with investments of BRL 883.9 million (USD 285.3m/EUR 253.1m).
The Chui Wind Complex is part of a bigger project, the 583-MW Campos Neutrais Wind Complex, considered to be the largest in Latin America. When completed, Campos Neutrais is expected to be able to supply about 3.3 million homes.
