Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corp (TMEIC) said Monday it will deliver 27.6 MW of its photovoltaic (PV) inverters for a utility-scale solar scheme in the US state of Hawaii.
The company, a joint venture (JV) of Japanese companies Toshiba Corp (TYO:6502) and Mitsubishi Electric Corp (TYO:6503), received the order from California-based Eurus Energy America Corp, a unit of Japanese firm Eurus Energy Holdings Corp.
The deal covers 17 units of TMEIC’s Solar Ware 1667 outdoor PV inverters with salt damage prevention properties.
The solar park is being installed on Oahu island. TMEIC explained that its inverters are specially designed for use in coastal areas as they do not require air conditioning, which in turn lowers costs for facilities in such locations significantly. The units are scheduled to kick off operation this autumn, according to the press statement.
On Saturday, the Nikkei reported that TMEIC will launch a remote monitoring service for PV inverters in September. The new solution, which will become a standard feature in the company’s products, will gather data on the units and then transmit it to a cloud server via the internet.
