The Solar Connection to open PV factory in N Carolina
Dec 18, 2013 - US photovoltaic (PV) panel maker The Solar Connection will open a plant in North Carolina for the production of solar cells and related PV products, governor Pat McCrory said on Tuesday.
The manufacturing plant will be situated in Maribon, McDowell County and is expected to provide jobs to 50 people in the following three years. Over that period veteran-owned The Solar Connection intends to spend over USD 500,000 (EUR 363,000) in Marion.
Initially, the company will operate as a wholesaler and enter strategic partnerships with installers. It will also collaborate with local schools to train employers on solar production and installation, according to the press release.
Solar Connection, part of Boyle Enterprises, has received USD 156,000 in financing from the One North Carolina fund, conditional on achieving certain investment and employment milestones.
