Thai utility Superblock PCL (BKK:SUPER) intends to spend some THB 30 billion (USD 891.5m/EUR 786.1m) this year on expanding its local and international solar activities, according to its chairman.
For the purpose, Superblock seeks to raise THB 25 billion through the sale of shares and warrants, chairman Jormsup Lochaya told Reuters on Monday. Furthermore, the company has obtained a THB-6.7-billion credit line from Bangkok Bank (BKK:BBL).
Superblock has set a goal to reach commercial operation of 500 MW of solar plants in 2015 and is on track to achieve it, the chairman has said, adding that the firm has inked contracts for 396 MW of solar parks already this year. Another company objective is to have this capacity doubled to 1,000 MW in 2016 and 2,000 MW over the next three years.
At present, Superblock is holding talks with a potential partner in Japan to realise a 300-MW solar project, Reuters said, quoting the company.
Meanwhile, Superblock also ponders investing in 695 MW of wind projects at a cost of THB 90 million per MW, according to the chairman.
