Tesla expects 1-GWh battery deal in few months, Musk says
Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) hopes to announce a deal for a 1-GWh battery storage project within a few months, CEO Elon Musk told a conference call on Thursday.
This anticipated project would be eight times bigger than the 100-MW/129-MWh facility Tesla installed in South Australia last year. Musk did not disclose the planned location of the new one.
According to the CEO, the lithium-ion battery installation in South Australia, still the largest in the world, has been performing far beyond expectations. After the success of that project, the company is working on several smaller ones in Australia, including a 25-MW/50-MWh lithium-ion battery at the 60-MW Gannawarra solar farm near Kerang, Victoria.
