Terra Solar plans EUR-60m PV investment in Ireland - report

Irish firm Terra Solar may spend a total of EUR 60 million (USD 68m) on solar power projects at home in Clare and Kerry counties, according to a local media report.

The company plans to file a planning application for a 12.4-ha (30.6-acre) solar project with the Clare County Council in the coming weeks, the Irish Examiner said on Friday. As part of the plan, it will install solar systems at six sites, each at a cost of EUR 5 million. For each of them, the firm has applied for grid connection to ESB Networks.

Moreover, Terra Solar anticipates to unveil a similar EUR-30-million plan for Kerry County over the coming month, the newspaper added.

Terra Solar director Andre Fernon was quoted as saying that the plan will establish a platform that will lure multinationals keen on sourcing renewables.
