Germany’s latest mixed tender for solar and onshore wind received solar bids with a combined capacity of 518.1 MW and no wind proposals, the Federal Network Agency said on Tuesday.
The tender with a bid deadline November 1 targeted 200 MW and awarded 201.9 MW across 43 projects. The solar parks will be built in 12 federal states, including 91.1 MW of capacity in Bavaria.
The successful bids ranged between EUR 0.0518 (USD 0.061) and EUR 0.0545 per kWh, with a quantity-weighted average of EUR 0.0533/kWh, the same as in the mixed tender in April.
Germany also recently concluded a biomass power tender, which, in contrast to the solar/wind one, was undersubscribed. It aimed to award 167.77 MW and got bids for just 50.41 MW. Two new biomass plants with a combined capacity of 28.3 MW were successful.
The Federal Network Agency explained that the low interest was likely due to a proposed increase of the bid cap for the next biomass tender. The surcharge values awarded were between EUR 0.1167 and EUR 0.1640 per kWh. The quantity-weighted average stood at EUR 0.1485/kWh, up from EUR 0.1399/kWh in April.
December 1 is the deadline for bids in the next solar and wind tenders in Germany.
