Details on a tender for the construction of 1 GW of solar capacity in Turkey’s Konya province are expected later in October, while the bidding is to take place next month, Daily Sabah said.
Under its updated strategy for renewable energy development, Turkey is designating zones for GW-scale sites and Konya’s Karapinar district is on that list. There are plans for 1.5 GW of photovoltaic (PV) power generation capacity in Karapinar, with bidding for the remaining 500 MW planned for a later date, according to the report.
Local content will be a key aspect of the upcoming tender.
Recently, Energy Minister Berat Albayrak confirmed at an event that there will be a solar tender before the end of the year.
