Tenaska acquires 160-MW proposed solar project in California
Aug 27, 2012 - Tenaska Solar Ventures LLC, an affiliate of US independent energy company Tenaska, said today it had purchased a 160-MW California solar project under development from local developer Agile Solar Holdings.
Financial details were not provided.
The facility, which is to be named Tenaska Silverleaf Solar Energy Centreer, will be built on agricultural property west of El Centro city. Construction is planned to commence as early as 2014, while commercial operation is expected in 2015, the earliest.
Following the acquisition, Tenaska Solar will take charge of all remaining stages of the project’s development, including the signing of a power purchase agreement. Agile Energy, on the other hand, will provide development services to the project’s new owner until the permitting phase has been concluded.
Tenaska said it had recently secured financing and kicked off construction of its 130-MW photovoltaic power park Tenaska Imperial Solar Energy Center South near El Centro. Commercial operation is seen to begin in the second half of 2013.
