August 2 (Renewables Now) - A local unit of French renewable power producer Technique Solaire Group will install a 300-kW rooftop solar array in India to supply a factory in the state of Tamil Nadu owned by Alstom SA (EPA:ALO).

Technique Solaire’s Indian subsidiary JLTM Energy India Pvt Ltd (JLTM) has entered into a 15-year corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) with the French mobility solutions developer. The project will be realised on top of a factory in Coimbatore.

Construction work is seen to begin at the end of August and be completed by the end of the year.

This is Technique Solaire’s second CPPA in India and it follows the successful commissioning of a project with the Goa Institute of Management (GIM). The French company noted that the contract with Alstom offers a price of electricity that is significantly lower than the tariff imposed by the government.
