January 14 (Renewables Now) - The solar energy subsidiary of Tata Power Co Ltd (BOM:500400) has received a Letter of Award from NTPC Ltd (BOM:532555) for a 250-MW solar project in India.

The order is worth about INR 15.05 billion (USD 212.4m/EUR 190.6m) and has been awarded under the CPSU scheme, which requires all cells and modules used to be locally manufactured. The award comes after in November NTPC selected Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd to develop a 105-MW floating solar array in Kayamkulam, Kerala.

The latest project should be executed in 20 months.

According to Praveer Sinha, CEO and managing director of Tata Power, this is Tata Power Solar’s biggest single order from a third party. The firm’s order book now amounts to INR 76 billion, including both external and internal orders.
