The renewables unit of Indian electric utility Tata Power Co Ltd (BOM:500400) has commissioned two 50-MW solar sites at the Anthapuramu solar park in the southeastern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
The new additions bring Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd's total renewable energy capacity in operation in India to 2,215 MW, the utility said today.
The Anthapuramu solar facilities will sell power under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
Tata Power plans "to add around 1,000 MW renewable energy capacity to our portfolio every year, scaling it to 45-50% in the next five years, largely through organic growth," said the company's chief executive and managing director Praveer Sinha.
