Tata Power awarded PPA for 100-MW solar park in Maharashtra

The renewables subsidiary of Tata Power Co Ltd (BOM:500400) will develop a 100-MW solar project in Maharashtra and sell the power generated by that plant under a long-term contract with the local electricity distribution utility.
The company announced today that Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has received a Letter of Award for the project from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co Ltd (MSEDCL).
The two parties will enter into a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) and after the signing TPREL will have 18 months to commission the solar park.
According to Praveer Sinha, CEO and managing director of Tata Power, this award brings the cumulative capacity of the company’s renewables to 3,557 MW. This includes 2,637 MW in operation and 920 MW under implementation.
