Tantaline launches corrosion resistance product for green energy applications

Jul 19, 2012 - US anticorrosion coatings group Tantaline said Wednesday it had entered the renewable energy market by offering its corrosion resistant products for flow battery applications.

Flow batteries represent rechargeable fuel cells that convert chemical energy into electricity. They are intended for use in a number of energy sectors, including wind and solar energy, where they can serve as back-up systems when the solar or wind power installation is idle.

One of the first companies to start using Tentaline's products in the production of flow batteries is United Technologies Corp (NYSE:UTX), or UTC, to which Tantaline has supplied a Tantaline-treated plate and frame heat exchangers.
