Talesun opens 500-MW PV panel factory, plans 1 GW of Thai plants

Chinese firm Zhongli Talesun Solar Co Ltd has officially put into operation a 500-MW photovoltaic (PV) module production plant in Thailand, where it plans to install 1 GW of solar parks, as well.

In particular, the PV maker and project developer will produce 500 MW of cells and 500 MW of modules at its new facility, located at an industrial park in the coastal city of Rayong. The firm has been working on the CNY-2-billion (USD 314m/EUR 291m) factory since February this year and may expand it with an additional 500 MW in 2016, according to the press release.

The new factory incorporates the German Passivated Emitter Rear Cell (PERC) technology to manufacture high-efficiency crystalline silicon (c-Si) solar equipment. It boosts Zhongli Talesun’s annual manufacturing capacities for cell and panels to 2 GW and 3 GW, accordingly.

Meanwhile, the company also unveiled that it plans to construct a number of PV parks with a combined capacity of 1,000 MW across Thailand and Southeast Asia. They will require a total investment of CNY 10 billion, Telesun calculates.
