Taiwan’s top three photovoltaic (PV) cell makers, namely Motech Industries Inc (TPO:6244), Neo Solar Power Corp (TPE:3576) and Gintech Energy Corp (TPE:3514), all booked higher January-April revenues in 2016 compared to a year back.
Motech remains on top with an almost double revenue over that of its local rivals. Details on the year-to-date performance of the three companies are available in the table below:
Company |
January-April sales |

Motech Industries |

Neo Solar Power |
TWD 7.45 billion |

Gintech Energy |

+47.6% |
In April alone, only Motech and Gintech saw their sales increase as compared to last year. Neo Solar, the last-month revenues of which declined slightly by 0.66% over 2015, blamed the drop on certain “short-term cyclical adjustments” that had impacted the solar market.
On a month-on-month basis, Gintech was the only one to record higher revenues.

Looking forward, Neo Solar guides for higher shipments in the second half of 2016, driven by demand recovery from China, the US and emerging PV markets. More certain annual solar policies worldwide will help, too.
