Dec 10, 2012 - A Taiwanese delegation of photovoltaics (PV) manufacturers has secured TWD 3 billion (USD 103m/EUR 80m) of orders during a mission to Japan, Central News Agency said at the weekend, citing the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
The over-20-strong delegation was led by the director general of the ministry's Bureau of Energy, Jerry Ou, and featured representatives of solar cell provider Motech Industries Inc (TPO:6244), module manufacturer Inventec Energy Corp and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd (TPE:2330).
On Friday, Motech signed a cooperation deal with Itogumi Construction Co, while multicrystalline silicon wafer maker Eversol Corp agreed with West Holdings Corp to set up a 50-MW solar energy facility in Japan, Ou was cited as saying.
The delegation travelled to Japan on Tuesday and returned Saturday. The aim was to set up alliances with Japanese firms and tap the Japanese market. The companies that took part showed products at the PVJapan 2012 event and held discussion with more than 60 firms from Japan, the report says.
