Swiss Edisun's CEO expects lower demand for solar panels in Europe - report
(ADPnews) - Nov 24, 2010 - Mirjana Blume, CEO of Swiss solar electricity producer Edisun Power (SWF:ESUN), expects a decline in prices and in demand for solar panels in Europe in 2011, Blume told Swiss paper Finanz und Wirtschaft.
In the interview published today, Blume said that the pressure on solar panels producers will result in consolidation in the sector.
Edisun, being an investor and operator of solar power installations, will be affected by the expected lower prices of solar panels, Blume said. In 2010, the company has not constructed any facilities in Spain, it completed one installation in Germany and other projects will not be launched until the middle of the coming year at the earliest.
Currently, Edisun is focused on the French market. Blume said that feed-in tariffs are still high in France and the market is not developed.
