(ADPnews) - Jan 20, 2011 - Swiss photovoltaic (PV) products maker 3SModultec, a wholly-owned unit of Meyer Burger Technology (SWF:MBTN) said yesterday it sold a 15 MW solar panel production line to Senegalese solar firm SPEC.
SPEC will use the production line at a first-of-a-kind solar panel manufacturing plant in West Africa, 3SModultec said.
Along with the production line, which can be expanded to 25 MW, the Swiss firm will also provide a comprehensive training package, certification of the production and service and maintenance.
The company did not disclose financial details of the deal.
SPEC is expected to put the plant in operation in June. The solar panels produced will be certified by German agency TUV Rhineland and designed for African markets.
