Swedish start-up Solar Power Accelerator AB has set a goal to install 200 MW of rooftop solar arrays across the country, with an immediate focus on Skane County in the South.
The company operates as a micro-producer under a Build-Own-Operate service model, leasing unused roof space from commercial and industrial property owners in order to install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. It procures solar panel contracts, secures capital and finances the expansion of micro-production of surplus electricity from rooftop solar arrays.
Solar Power Accelerator is looking to start in South Sweden and eventually replicate its service model across the entire country before expanding internationally to select markets “with similar dysfunctionality and demand flexibility in the energy infrastructure.”
Presently, the firm is negotiating a rooftop lease with an option on the equivalent of 50,000 square meters. Simultaneously, it is establishing the first pilot facility in South Sweden in close cooperation with engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor RSA, it said.
