Nov 18, 2013 - Japanese car maker Suzuki Motor Corp (TYO:7269) said today it will invest JPY 5.6 billion (EUR 41m/USD 56m) in a 18 MW solar power plant in Nakazato Industrial Park located in the city of Makinohara, Shizuoka Prefecture.
The solar facility will cover 42 ha (103 acres) of Suzuki-owned land in the industrial park. The plant could provide electricity to 5,700 average households, Suzuki said.
The car maker will apply for state approval for the solar plant and connection to the grid by domestic utility Chubu Electric Power Co Inc (TYO:9502) by the end of November. Commissioning is scheduled for autumn 2015.
In addition, the company plans to install solar panels at two more sites in the city of Hamamatsu.
