Weekly renewables M&A round-up (May 23-27)
May 27, 2022 17:26 CESTJanuary 20 (Renewables Now) - Swiss asset manager SUSI Partners AG said today it has set up a new platform that will seek to build wind and solar portfolio in Poland in partnership with domestic energy-as-a-service company Luneos.
The renewable energy platform, dubbed Luneos Green Energy (LGE), was estaiblished through SUSI’s Energy Transition Fund (SETF). It will target the buildout of a “sizeable, diversified” portfolio of wind and solar photovoltaic (PV) projects, including potential in-house developments.
The new platform will seek to benefit from the relatively low costs of renewable energy and help Poland lower its heavy dependence on coal-fired power generation and meet national clean energy targets. SUSI cited statistics showing that close to 80% of the country’s total power production in 2021 was covered with coal. It pointed out, however, that renewable energy generation has expanded by almost 25% over the last 10 years and is expected to grow further.
SUSI and Luneos have been partnering since 2018.
