Switzerland-based SUSI Partners AG has acquired a 34-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Queensland, thus making its first investment in Australia.
SUSI Partners is pouring some EUR 30 million (USD 34.2m) to buy the asset in Middlemount and finance its construction, according to a press release from earlier this week. The Swiss investment manager noted that there is the possibility of adding a battery storage component to the solar farm upon its completion.
Once up and running, the Middlemount facility will be able to generate enough power to supply some 24,000 homes. It will expand SUSI’s solar portfolio to 165 MW.
The company, through its EUR-252-million SUSI Energy Storage Fund (SESF), is actively pursuing a number of other projects under exclusive terms in Australia, it added.
