Solar3D Inc (NASDAQ:SLTD) said Tuesday it unit Solar United Networks Inc (SUNworks) has won two contracts of USD 3 million (EUR 2.7m) in total from agricultural organisations in California, which want to go solar.
Earlier this week it was announced that California has become the first US state to surpass the 10,000 MW solar capacity threshold.
As part of a USD-2-million order, SUNworks will install a 1-MW direct current (DC) fixed tilt ground mount solar system for Payne Brothers Ranches. The facility will power 19 wells and a nut hulling facility. Payne Farms in Woodland expect cost savings of over USD 7.2 million for 25 years thanks to the photovoltaic (PV) farm.
The other USD-1-million contract for SUNworks is for a 435-kW fixed ground mount solar installation. It will help the Pleasant Grove rice farm save USD 4.8 million over 25 years.
US-based Solar3D is the developer of a three-dimensional (3D) silicon solar cell design. It acquired solar installers SUNworks and MD Energy LLC as part of a plan to expand to additional segments of the solar sector. Solar3D expects revenues of up to USD 45 million for 2015.
