Aug 25 (Renewables Now) - Singapore-based clean energy provider Sunseap Group Pte Ltd on Friday announced a contract to sell the output of a 5-MWp solar power system to local group ST Engineering.
Under the 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA), Sunseap will install rooftop solar arrays at home and sell their electricity to ST Kinetics, the land systems and speciality vehicles unit of ST Engineering. The plants are expected to be switched on by October and will be powering five of ST Kinetics’ sites in Singapore.
Once up and running, the PV systems will be able to generate up to 6.2 GWh of electricity per year and help offset about 2,633 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, thus helping ST Kinetics lower its carbon footprint.
Last year the Singaporean government unveiled a carbon tax policy that will be imposed in 2019, stipulating power producers and large carbon emitters to pay a tax on each tonne of carbon they release.
