Sep 6, 2012 - US solar cell maker Sunpreme Inc said Thursday it had received UL 1703, IEC 61646, IEC 61730-01 and IEC 61730-02 certifications for its photovoltaic (PV) cells and panels as well as a ISO 9001 certification for its R&D facilities in the US and its plant in China.
The company is now producing the G60 panels at its plant in Jiaxing, China and shipping them to customers.
The certificates by leading international standardisation organisations confirm that Sunpreme's patented SmartSilicon panel design meets the highest standards for robustness and reliability, the company said. SmartSilicon is a hybrid technology based on the combination of crystalline and thin-film materials to generate electricity at a lower cost than with conventional solar PV panels.
Ashok K Sinha, chief executive and chairman of Sunpreme, said that the ISO 9001 certification was a prerequisite for the global expansion of the SmartSilicon technology.
