SunPower, energy conversion firms join forces in PVDock SIG
(ADPnews) - Oct 8, 2010 - US photovoltaic (PV) equipment maker SunPower Corp (NASDAQ:SPWRA) has set up a special interest group (SIG) with distributed power control systems (DPCS) manufacturers to drive down total solar system costs.
The company along with its partners SolarBridge Technologies and Tigo Energy will create and drive standards between the rapidly evolving DPCS field, which includes DC/AC microinverters and DC/DC system optimisers, and solar module manufacturers.
In addition, the SIG will form a common industry platform for advanced electronics integration, including a plug and play criterion for mechanical connections and communications protocols between the solar panels and distributed control systems. Moreover, the companies plan to develop a compatibility roadmap and implementation plan that addresses existing complexities, such as lowering costs and ease of field serviceability.
