June 7 (Renewables Now) - SunDirected, a SunPower Corp (NASDAQ:SPWR) commercial dealer in Pennsylvania, said on Wednesday it will install a 581-kW solar carport system at Burkholder's Country Market in Spring Mills, Pennsylvania.

The project will consist of three solar carports that will serve as covered parking for the customers of the local grocery store. Construction is due to start in August and be completed in November.

The SunPower Helix carport system is expected to produce over 700,000 kWh of power for Burkholder's in its first year of operation and to save the store more than USD 1.4 million (EUR 1.2m) in electricity costs over the next 25 years.

The project is partially funded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
