Jun 3, 2014 - US firm SunLink Corp, which makes balance of system products for solar installations, today said it would deliver the racking hardware for the 250-MW Moapa Southern Paiute solar park in Nevada.
US-based company First Solar Inc (NASDAQ:FSLR) in March initiated construction of the photovoltaic (PV) complex, which will be situated on the Moapa river Indian reservation near Las Vegas. It is touted as the first utility-scale solar park on tribal land.
SunLink said it would start equipment deliveries this month. It explained that its structural and product engineers have changed the large-scale ground-mounted systems design to meet the Moapa project’s “unique needs”.
First Solar bought the Moapa Southern Paiute solar project in September 2013 from developer K Road Power Holdings LLC for an undisclosed amount. The facility will sell its output to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA). It will be able to generate enough power for over 100,000 households in its first year of operation. Commercial operations are expected in late 2015.
