Suniva starts building PV module factory of 200 MW in Michigan

Aug 13, 2014 - US photovoltaic (PV) products maker Suniva Inc said yesterday it had commenced this week the construction of its solar module assembly facility, with a production capacity of up to 200 MW, in Michigan.

As previously announced, the factory will be located in Saginaw Township and will provide jobs for 350 people once completed. The facility is designed and engineered by William A Kibbe & Associates Inc, Suniva pointed out yesterday. It will be located on a 129,000 sq ft (11,980 sq m) land plot.

Suniva manufactures crystalline silicon PV cells and panels. In particular, it makes monocrystalline modules with power ratings of up to 280 W per 60-cell piece and 330 W per 72-cell format.

The Michigan cell and module factory will be Suniva's second in total. Its existing one is located in its home state of Georgia.
