January 12 (Renewables Now) - German electrolysis technology company Sunfire today announced the acquisition of Swiss alkaline electrolysis firm IHT Industrie Haute Technology SA.

With the deal, which sees Sunfire acquire 100% of IHT, the German company will add high-pressure alkaline water electrolysis to its portfolio. The technology is said to be suitable for environments without available water steam, including the energy market or in hydrogen mobility.

IHT has so far built a total of 240 MW of electrolysers based on its technology.

"This acquisition represents an essential part of our growth strategy to strengthen and further expand our global market position as one of the world's leading electrolysis suppliers," Sunfire CEO Nils Aldag commented.

The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
