Singapore-based Sun Electric has won a contract to install up to 5 MWp of solar arrays on the rooftops of 27 buildings owned by state-run agency JTC, the latter announced today, as quoted by local media.
Under the terms of the 15-year deal, Sun Electric will be paying a monthly rental for up to 43,000 sq m (462,800 sq ft) of rooftop space. It will export the electricity generated by the solar systems directly to the grid and sell it on the open market.
The company anticipates to install the solar modules over the coming year and to begin power generation by mid-2018. It has the option to renew the contract for an additional five years. The number of JTC buildings available for installations could also increase.
JTC has awarded the deal through a tender as part of its SolarRoof initiative.
