Stewart’s Shops launches construction of 600 kW rooftop PV system
Jul 23, 2013 - US convenience store Stewart’s Shops has launched a project for the construction of a 600 kW rooftop photovoltaic (PV) system.
The facility will be located atop Stewart’s Shops' 300,000-sq ft (27,870 sq m) manufacturing and distribution centre in New York and is projected to save some USD 40,000 (EUR 30,360) in electricity costs annually, the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) said in a statement yesterday.
The project is being installed by US solar system developer EnterSolar and has received a USD 3 million funding by the Competitive PV Programme of NYSERDA.
Stewart’s Shops expects to complete the installation in the fall of 2013 and estimates the payback period at five or six years.
