Stellar Solar to station 500-kW solar system in San Diego
(ADPnews) - Sep 24, 2010 - California-based solar energy solutions provider Stellar Solar said Thursday it had received an order from the Salk Institute of Biological Sciences to supply and install a 500-kW solar facility for the institute's campus in La Jolla, San Diego.
The company did not provide financial details of the contract.
The project is part of the institute's efforts to cut on its electricity bills. The institute needs a lot of power, due to its research activities. It has estimated that an own solar installation, it would spend 30% less on electricity, than it is now being charged by San Diego Gas & Electric.
The building on whose roof the facility will be installed, represents a national historic landmark, built back in 1965.
