Statkraft to build 234 MWp of solar farms in Spain

Norwegian renewables company Statkraft AS announced on Thursday it will build 234 MWp of new solar power plants in Cadiz province, the southernmost part of mainland Spain.

The Scandinavian firm plans to invest around EUR 200 million (USD 241.5m) in the construction of four new photovoltaic (PV) parks in order to further strengthen its position in the Spanish market.

Statkraft has signed a local employment agreement with the San Jose del Valle town council regarding three of the four projects, it said. The construction process is expected to create up to 500 jobs.

The company is aiming to develop 8 GW of solar and wind power by 2025.
