Statkraft, Enerparc sign PPA for 52 MWp of solar in Germany

Norwegian state-owned energy company Statkraft AS and Hamburg-based Enerparc AG have reached a 12-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for five solar projects with a combined capacity of about 52 MWp in Bavaria, Germany.

Statkraft, which will buy around 600 GWh of total electricity from the projects between May 2020 and December 2031, will use it for the structured power supply of industrial companies.

The construction of the solar farms started this summer and they are expected to be operational by spring 2020. The projects require no compensation under the Renewable Energy Sources Act or EEG, according to the statement.

Enerparc will oversee the development, construction and operation of the projects, while its marketing subsidiary Sunnic is responsible for short-term marketing on the spot market.

"With these solar parks with an output of 52 MWp, we are realizing subsidy-free projects on a multi-megawatt scale for the first time and giving the go-ahead for many other future projects in this area," Enerparc CEO Stefan Mueller said.
