US developer Standard Solar has acquired a portfolio with 21 MW of planned community solar projects in New York and Massachusetts in a transaction that enables it to expand its presence in the Northeast of the United States.
The firm said on Wednesday it had bought three projects from Massachusetts-based developer New Leaf Energy without disclosing the value of the deal.
One of the projects will result in a solar-plus-storage hybrid power plant. This is the Copicut project in Freetown, Massachusetts, which will connect a solar farm of over 12 MW with a 22-MWh storage system. The project received an award from the state’s Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target (SMART) programme, which provides incentives for solar and storage development.
Another project in Massachusetts, the almost 3-MW Main Street Newbury solar system, is fully subscribed to commercial and residential subscribers in the village of Byfield and the surrounding area.
The third acquired project is the Saunders Settlement in Sanborn, New York. Saunders Settlement will be a solar farm of over 6 MW with an estimated production output of 8,861 MWh annually, Standard Solar said.
