Global independent power producer (IPP) Sonnedix Power Holdings Ltd announced on Monday it is proceeding with the construction of a 50-MW solar portfolio in Italy.
The photovoltaic (PV) bundle consists of five projects located in the Lazio and Piemonte regions.
Italian technological systems builder TEA TEK and Energy Systems Services (ESS) will be in charge of building the renewable schemes. The latter, a unit of German renewables company BayWa r.e. AG, will act as the EPC contractor.
Sonnedix expects to complete the construction of the plants between the second and third quarters of 2023.
Once up and running, the solar plants should be capable of generating more than 87 GWh per year of clean electricity, enough to meet the demand of over 33,000 local homes.
Globally, Sonnedix now has more than 7 GW in capacity, of which over 5 GW are in the development pipeline. In Italy, the company has nearly 300 MW of plants in operation and more than 1.3 GW in development.
