Global independent power producer (IPP) Sonnedix Power Holdings Ltd announced today it has acquired a 36-MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) plant already in operation in Spain's Ciudad Real province.
The solar farm was acquired for an undisclosed amount from sustainability-focused investor Impax Asset Management Group Plc (LON:IPX), which bought the project rights in 2019.
Located in the municipality of Herencia, the PV park has just recently achieved its commercial operation date (COD). Sonnedix expects the asset to be capable of producing 78 GWh of clean electricity during its first operational year.
This estimated output is enough to power more than 23,000 households and offset almost 12,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year.
Sonnedix noted that this is the fourth acquisition it has conducted this year in Spain. At present, the IPP manages some 1 GW of solar projects and 600 MW in total operational capacity.
