Independent solar power producer (IPP) Sonnedix Power Holdings Ltd on Monday announced that it has finalised the acquisition of a 300-MWp solar PV portfolio of projects under development in Spain.
The bundle was purchased from Madrid-based solar PV specialist RIC Energy under undisclosed terms.
The portfolio is divided into two 150-MWp clusters with all projects located in Cuenca province, east-central Spain, Sonnedix said. Land and grid access have been secured, and the projects follow the permitting deadlines, which the Spanish government imposed to ensure an orderly processing of requests for connection and project execution, according to the IPP.
Construction of the plants is expected to start towards the end of 2022.
“We are very excited about this acquisition, which brings our total controlled capacity in Spain to over 700MW and consolidates our company as the top solar IPP in the country,” said Axel Thiemann, CEO of Sonnedix.
The company said it intends to continue looking for opportunities to acquire development projects and strike partnerships with “strong players”.
As announced earlier this year, RIC Energy found one such partner in Lightsource BP, to which it unloaded over 1 GW of solar projects in Spain.
