January 12 (Renewables Now) - Spanish solar trackers maker Soltec Power Holdings SA (BME:SOL) will supply its equipment to a 50-MW photovoltaic (PV) project that is being developed in Spain by Metka EGN, part of Greek industrial conglomerate Mytilineos SA.

This is the fourth project signed with Metka EGN in 2021. Soltec said it has agreed to supply 217 MW in total to that particular customer.

Located in a 63-hectare (155.6 acres) area in Jaen province, in the southern region of Andalusia, the solar power facility's construction works are set to commence in the first quarter of 2022. The equipment chosen for this agreement is the SF7 trackers.

According to Soltec, once it is up and running, the solar park will be able to meet the energy demands of some 28,000 homes and offset 30,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

Soltec says the latest order will beef up its operating backlog, which as of the end of the third quarter of 2021 amounted to EUR 397 million (USD 450m) and had a pipeline valued at roughly EUR 3.05 billion.
