January 22 (Renewables Now) - Spanish solar products maker Soltec Renewable Energies has opened a new office in Australia as part of its  strategy to expand in the Asia-Pacific region, the local government announced today.

Named Soltec Australia, the new subsidiary is based in Sydney and will focus its services on the Asia-Pacific market. For this purpose, it will work closely with the firm’s existing office in India, the Australian Trade and Investment Commission said.

Solar trackers like Soltec's single-axis solutions help increase the productivity and efficiency of Australia’s solar industry, raising the generation of electricity by 10% to 15%, depending on the geographic location, Austrade's Senior Investment Specialist, David Grabau pointed out.

The company, which has manufacturing facilities in Spain, China, and Brazil, has recently started the supply of 162 MW of solar trackers in the latter country. According to Soltec Renewable's CEO, Raul Morales, the firm's global supply chain has an annual manufacturing capacity of 2.5 GW.
