Solarpack Corporacion Tecnologica SA (BME:SPK) and renewable energy investment fund manager Bruc Iberia Energy Investment Partners on Wednesday inaugurated a 100-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in Spain.
Bruc Iberia Energy Partners became the owner of the asset after buying its from its developer Solarpack in November 2019.
Located in Alvarado-La Risca, in the region of Extremadura, the PV park will operate under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with an unnamed off-taker. Its developer estimates that the plant will be able to produce enough clean power to meet the consumption of 40,000 homes and avoid 53,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year.
“These 100 MW are another milestone in the road towards accomplishing our strategic plan. They reinforce our presence in Extremadura, which is and will continue to be the scene of one of Solarpack’s main bets on sustainable growth” said Solarpack general manager Pablo Burgos.
With the new solar farm online, Solarpack reaches 121 MW of total operating capacity in Extremadura and 295 MW of installed capacity in Spain. For Bruc Iberia, the project is its first investment in Spain, according to the press release.
