SolarCity to partner with homebuilder Taylor Morrison in Arizona

(SeeNews) - Jan 31, 2014 - US firm SolarCity (NASDAQ:SCTY) said Thursday it would offer 5.5-kW solar systems to all new homebuyers at Taylor Morrison’s 33 existing and soon-to-be-opened communities in the greater Phoenix area.

Homeowner willing to take advantage of the offer will be able to go solar in return for monthly fees and without any upfront payments. SolarCity installs and maintains the photovoltaic (PV) systems under 20-year contracts.

The solar system provider said that Taylor Morison was the first national homebuilder in Arizona to offer SolarCity solar plants to homebuyers without hiking home purchase prices.

SolarCity already partners with over 100 builders in nine states. Earlier this week it said it would work with Brookfield Homes Hawai‘i to offer solar options to the owners of existing and new homes in the KaMilo community at the Mauna Lani Resort. Last week, SolarCity joined hands with 20 homebuilders in Oregon that will offer the solar system installer’s services to homebuyers in the state.
