UK solar developer Solarcentury said today construction on the 44-MW Nyrstar solar farm in the Netherlands will start next Monday.
The project is the first to reach commercial stage as part of a partnership between Solarcentury and German solar and wind park operator Encavis AG (ETR:CAP), formerly Capital Stage, that was agreed in late 2017.
The Nyrstar solar farm will be built on a sink landfill near the city of Eindhoven, North Brabant and is expected to be connected to the grid by December. It will receive feed-in tariff (FiT) of EUR 0.104 (USD 0.123) per kWh over 15 years.
"Together with our partner Encavis, within only 10 weeks we managed to finance one of the largest projects in the Netherlands – that was only possible because all people involved, from Solarcentury, Encavis, the project partners, Rabobank and all advisors have been working hand in hand as one team," said Solarcentury chief executive Frans van den Heuvel.
Solarcentury will operate and maintain the plant and will keep a stake of 20%.
The project is described as the Netherlands' largest solar farm. Germany-based Ib vogt GmbH recently secured debt for what it also said will be the largest solar power plant in the Netherlands of 54.5 MWp.
