Solarcentury, PowerField building 110-MW Dutch solar park

UK solar developer Solarcentury said on Monday it has entered into a partnership agreement with Dutch sector company PowerField to jointly build a 110-MWp solar park that would be the largest in the Netherlands.

The two firms plan to execute the Vlagtwedde project in Westerwolde, Groningen. PowerField got the operating grant to develop the facility last year. Construction work has already been initiated, according to the official announcement.

Solarcentury is also currently building the 44-MW Nyrstar solar farm on a sink landfill near the city of Eindhoven, North Brabant. It was set to be the country’s largest such plant before the latest project was announced.

PowerField is currently developing dozens of Dutch large-scale projects and is discussing with Solarcentury a potential collaboration on a portfolio of solar farms, the latter said.
