June 6 (Renewables Now) - Canadian Solar Inc (NASDAQ:CSIQ) has received an order from Solarcentury to supply a total of 500 MW of photovoltaic (PV) modules for a couple of projects in Spain.

More specifically, Canadian Solar will deliver 200 MW for the Cabrera project and a further 300 MW for Talayuela Solar. In total, it will supply about 1.4 million CS3U-P KuMax modules.

The Cabrera scheme will be realised in Alcala de Guadaira, the Spanish region of Seville. Construction work on that project is expected to start this summer and be finalised in 2020. Upon completion, the plant will generate enough power to supply some 105,000 homes in the region.

Talayuela Solar, in turn, will be built in the Extremadura region of Talayuela, starting later this year. The facility is expected to be connected to the grid in 2020, at which point it will be capable of generating enough power to meet the annual power needs of over 150,000 homes.
